Uagadou: Exploring the Oldest and Largest Magical School in the Wizarding World

J.K. Rowling once remarked that the number of countries with their own magical school is very limited compared to those without one. In the magical world, there are eleven prestigious and ancient magical schools scattered across the globe, all registered with the International Confederation of Wizards.

General Rule: Magical schools tend to be located in mountainous, non-coastal areas, making them challenging for the general public to access and easier to defend against dark wizards.

Today, we take you on a tour of the oldest magical school ever known in the wizarding world—Uagadou.

Uagadou is the largest magical school both in terms of size and age, welcoming students from all corners of the vast African continent. Its sole known address is the "Mountains of the Moon" in the country of Uganda in East Africa.

Visitors describe the school as a stunning structure carved into the mountainside and shrouded in mist, sometimes appearing as if it is floating in the air.

Many accomplished wizards have emerged from Uagadou, known for their expertise in various forms of magic. The school particularly excels in astronomy, alchemy, and self-transfiguration.

Acceptance letters to Uagadou are entirely different from their counterparts at Hogwarts in Britain. They are delivered through a vision sent by the school's headmaster to accepted students, who see it in their dreams. A symbol or clue about their acceptance is usually left for them, often a carved stone that the child finds upon waking.

Notable graduates from Uagadou include Babajide Akingbade, who succeeded the great wizard Albus Dumbledore as the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards.
